- Define and own the community marketing strategy across virtual channels including social, online groups, content, and email
- Define and own the community marketing strategy across in-person channels including events, conferences, meetups, and fundraisers
- Develop original campaign concepts to activate and grow patient and caregiver communities
- Build and own relationships with patient advocacy groups and foundations across hundreds of rare diseases
- Strengthen existing partnerships and cultivate new patient advocacy group and foundation relationships
- Test and iterate referral and email outreach, partnerships and sponsorships, events, participant compensation, and paid media
- Track the impact of community efforts on patient acquisition and CAC
- Adjust strategy based on performance data
- Build scalable, repeatable playbooks for community-driven growth
- Represent Probably Genetic at conferences, fundraisers, and community events
- Travel regularly for events and partner meetings
- Help Probably Genetic grow an engaged community of patients, families, and caregivers
Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience in community marketing or community-led growth at a consumer brand known for genuine community engagement
- Track record of building or significantly growing a community with active participation, member-generated content, referrals, and brand-organized activity
- Creative instincts for community activation from concept to execution
- Fluency in virtual and in-person community building
- Comfort using data to guide decisions and identify growth, engagement, and CAC drivers
- Genuine empathy for engaging a sensitive, high-stakes population
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel regularly for events and partner meetings
- Rare disease landscape familiarity or existing rare disease community relationships are not required
- Good person who is empathetic and patient-focused
- Motivation to have a lasting, positive impact on humanity
- Comfort in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with rapid change
- Action-oriented approach and excitement to build a company from the ground up
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be willing and able to work in-office Tuesday-Thursday each week in San Francisco
- Must be willing and able to relocate to the Bay Area without relocation assistance if not currently based there
