Head of Avionics – Control Products

Onsite Full Time Management & Operations

  • Own the technical vision, architecture, and organizational leadership for engine avionics and control systems
  • Control the technical baseline for engine controllers, embedded control software, harnessing, instrumentation/sensors, hydraulic and ignition avionics, and associated test equipment
  • Architect the long-term technical roadmap across BE-3U, BE-4, BE-7, and future propulsion programs
  • Drive cross-program technical direction and manage portfolio-wide technical risk
  • Oversee product lifecycles from requirements and architecture through design, integration, verification, qualification, production, and flight/test support
  • Provide design and architecture review authority across concurrent engine programs
  • Support hot-fire campaigns, qualification testing, flight operations, and anomaly resolution
  • Interface between engine avionics/controls and vehicle-side stakeholders including New Glenn, Lunar, and future vehicle programs
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Mission Assurance, and Manufacturing on scalable, supportable designs
  • Own and evolve the electronics supplier base strategy
  • Represent engine avionics and controls in executive technical reviews and cross-organizational planning
  • Build, mentor, and technically develop engineers and technical leaders through managers and directors
  • Foster ownership, engineering excellence, and psychological safety
  • Navegate organizational change while maintaining mission-critical momentum
  • Maintain budgetary awareness and inform resource allocation and prioritization
  • Drive improvements in reliability, cost, schedule, technical performance, design, verification, and production processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in avionics, embedded control systems, or high-reliability electronics
  • Senior leadership experience with budget and resource management responsibility for technical organizations
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams at scale, including leadership through subordinate managers
  • Full product lifecycle experience from requirements through design, integration, test, and production
  • Deep technical expertise in propulsion or flight avionics or similarly complex systems
  • Expertise in engine/embedded controllers, sensor and instrumentation systems, harnessing, and real-time control architectures
  • Experience scaling avionics or embedded electronics systems from development to high-volume production
  • Ability to make high-stakes technical and business decisions across concurrent programs
  • Track record leading complex, multi-year technical programs with significant business impact
  • Strong executive presence and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic thinking and operational execution excellence
  • Experience shaping technical strategy around supplier ecosystems, procurement strategy, and external dependencies
  • U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee
  • Required Blue's Standard Background Check
