Manager/Director of Accounting & Finance

Location: Lakewood, NJ (Onsite)

About the Role

• Our client is seeking a hands-on, relationship-driven Manager or Director to oversee our accounting and finance operations. This leader will manage internal teams, interface directly with clients, and ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of all financial processes across our portfolio. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable in the weeds and at the strategic level—able to execute, lead, advise, and improve.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full accounting and finance function, including month-end close, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
• Develop and implement financial processes, workflows, and controls to support scalable operations.
• Review and finalize financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting packages for both internal leadership and external clients.
• Team Management
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and timely delivery of all work.
• Set clear expectations, delegate effectively, and build a culture of continuous improvement.
• Oversee workload allocation, quality checks, and staff development plans.
• Client Management & Communication
• Serve as the primary financial point of contact for assigned clients.
• Provide guidance, insights, and financial recommendations to client leadership teams.
• Manage client relationships with professionalism, responsiveness, and a service-first mindset.
• Operational Excellence
• Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen accuracy, speed, and standardization across accounts.
• Partner with internal teams (billing, operations, payroll, analytics) to ensure seamless financial execution.
• Lead special projects, system enhancements, and operational initiatives to support organizational growth.
• Strategic Partnership
• Work closely with the President to shape financial strategy, operational priorities, and organizational initiatives.
• Provide reporting, analysis, and insights to support decision-making and business growth.
