Head Cook/Snack Cart AttendantThe Raceway Head Cook/Snack Cart Attendant position provides Raceway customers with food and beverages while maintaining a clean and healthy establishment. This position prepares food for and operates the snack cart.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesKitchen:Clean and sanitize the kitchen at the beginning and end of each shiftPrepare and cook food for the snack cartMaintain a clean and sanitized cooking area during the shiftKeep track of supplies used for the kitchenKeep track of food and drink products ordered and soldNotify the Raceway Manager when supplies need to be ordered (Propane, Staples, etc.)Notify the Raceway Manager of food, drink, and snack orders (Smart and Final, Costco, etc.)Notify the Raceway Manager when kitchen appliances and cooking tools need repair or maintenancePerform other related duties as directed by the Raceway ManagerCart:Cleans and sanitize the snack cart daily at the beginning and end of each shiftMaintain a clean and sanitized snack cart during the shiftKeep track of food and drink products ordered and soldStock supplies for the food cart before, during and after the shiftNotify the Raceway Manager when the cart needs to be serviced or repairedHandle cash and credit card transactions for customers and balance cash bag dailyPerform other related duties as directed by the Raceway ManagerKnowledge, Skills, Certifications And AbilitiesAbility to prepare orders as a short-order cookAbility to use Square iPad for salesAbility to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees, vendors, contractors, etc.Ability to provide customers with a courteous and helpful attitudeAbility to demonstrate patience with customers, employees, and vendorsKnowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, frying, baking, boiling, etc.)Knowledge of basic math skills is mandatoryMust provide and have knowledge of basic customer service skills and a positive attitudeMinimum QualificationsMust be 18 years or older.Must have at least one year of food-handling experience.Prior cash handling experience preferredMust be able to lift heavy objects up to 20 lbs and withstand extreme hot and cold temperatures.Must obtain San Diego Food handlers card within 15 days of being offered the position.Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license.Must successfully pass a Fingerprint-based background check of potential employees, volunteers, and contractors pursuant to Public Law 101-630 - Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace (including marijuana) as a condition of employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
