Position Purpose

The position of Head Coach is responsible for ensuring that all assistants (contracted or volunteer), as well as himself/herself, understand the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), KINGCO Conference, and Bellevue School District policies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Has responsibility and leadership for overall supervision of the program at all levels
  • Organises the program so that it aligns with district and school philosophy, goals, and objectives
  • Strives to build good sportsmanship and develop positive community relations
  • Follows all rules, policies, and procedures of the League, District, and school
  • Prepares public information releases regarding the sport
  • Complies with WIAA coaching clock hour program
  • Keeps abreast of new knowledge, ideas, and techniques related to the sport
  • Assists the Athletic Director in scheduling non‑league contests and tournaments
  • Drafts and submits a budget for the sport and tracks expenditures and revenues
  • Conducts practice sessions within the agreed time and supervises locker rooms
  • Keeps records for the Athletic Director and/or principal
  • Attends all meetings (district and league) pertaining to the sport
  • Ensures the general health, welfare, and safety of athletes
  • Communicates safety procedures to assistant coaches, athletes, and parents
  • Administers a student interest survey at season’s end and reports results
  • Writes an annual program evaluation report and makes recommendations
  • Conducts and files Assistant Coach evaluations
  • Assigns duties of assistant coaches (volunteer and contracted)
  • Ensures all rules, procedures, and policies are followed
  • Maintains equipment, protecting its use and inventory
  • Ensures appropriate use of school facilities and property
  • Organises, directs, and supervises practice sessions and dressing room facilities when in use
  • Travels to all events and follows travel rules

Reporting Relationships

Reports to and is directly supervised by the Athletic Director.

Required Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age 19 years
  • Current first‑aid and CPR card (must be provided prior to offer)

None

Physical Requirements

Requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, speaking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. May require exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly, and may involve outdoor work in inclement weather and mobility across the campus, including stairs.

Conditions of Employment

2025‑26 Athletic Salary Schedule: $3,467 for the season. This position is not eligible for benefits.
