JOB DESCRIPTION
SALARY: $42,739.00- $55,491.00 (or per the Salary Schedule )
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) High School Diploma.
(2) Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the diagnosis and repair of school buses.
(3) Possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License.
(4) Or other appropriate certificates/licenses required by the District.
Note: Beginning January 1, 2026, new hires must be screened through the Clearinghouse ( information on the Clearinghouse is available at )
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of adjustment and repair of a wide variety of vehicles. Ability to diagnose common defects of motors and use shop tools. Ability to keep records of repair and service and to make reports. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Basic knowledge of computer diagnoses procedures. Skill in reading, interpreting and applying information in technical manuals and other documents. Ability to delegate and monitor assignments.

JOB GOAL
To maintain a safe and economical fleet of vehicles in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
SUPERVISES:
N/A
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service Delivery
* (1) Provide diagnosis and repair on reported problems.
* (2) Monitor base station for any problems or emergencies on school buses.
* (3) Fuel support vehicles and school buses.
* (4) Perform preventative maintenance on all service vehicles and school buses.
* (5) Perform emergency road repairs when needed.
* (6) Promote and adhere to safety procedures in all garage operations.
* (7) Test drive vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
* (8) Perform monthly inspection on above ground fuel tank and fuel pumps for any defective parts or leaks.
* (9) Perform duties of Parts Manager in his absence.
*(10) Haul tires for replacement and/or repair.
*(11) Check all repair orders and inspection forms for accuracy and file.
*(12) Assist other mechanics on repairs.
*(13) Drive or aide on school buses as needed.
*(14) Provide safety inspections on all School Board vehicles.
*(15) Perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles as specified on work orders.
*(16) Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.

*(19) Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.

*(24) Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and administrators.
*(25) Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
*(26) Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
System Support
*(27) Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
*(28) Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
*(29) Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
*(30) Demonstrate support for the School District and its goals and priorities.
(31) Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
(32) Shall assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force as frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
