Graphics Design Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: To provide highly specialized technical support in the graphics area of design and production.

MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

• Uses graphic design software to produce professionally printed collateral such as brochures, flyers, catalogs, programs, invitation packages, posters, banners, etc.
• Works directly with customers to plan projects in order to meet time limits and budgetary restrictions; determines the most appropriate approach to meet customer needs and stay within printing production deadlines.
• Creates quality designs for posters and scientific poster sessions. Provides the skills necessary to print on high-end, large format color inkjet printers.
• Follows organization's medical record guidelines to edit and create new medical forms and sends through the proper channels for approval.
• Monitors and assists with prioritizing multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity.
• Ensures customer satisfaction on all projects requiring graphic design or intervention; follows up in a timely manner to ensure deadlines are met; employs effective communication skills on a daily basis.
• Makes recommendations to management of new equipment needs/upgrades and new software purchases or upgrades when necessary.
• Assists in training and mentoring team members to enhance the level of knowledge and professionalism in the graphics area.
• Is familiar with the importance of brand integrity and is expected to learn and adhere to the University Identity Branding Guidelines.
• Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
• Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Associate degree in related graphics field or equivalent and two years of related experience.

EQUIPMENT: Computers and all related software on both Windows PC & MAC platform; large format color printers; lamination equipment

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Standard printing, bindery, pre-press and duplication reproduction operation environments.

• Hiring Range: $28.00 - $33.00
