Hardware Lab Engineer

TeleWorld Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Hardware Lab Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, configuration, testing, and support of hardware systems within our development and validation lab. You’ll work closely with design, test, and manufacturing engineers to ensure all hardware platforms meet performance, safety, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage lab requirements, materials, and requests for setup changes, test bed issues, and new system builds
• Plan and implement customer lab mirror systems or pre-staging systems prior to customer deployment
• Rack/stack servers and perform RAN and core systems installations
• Perform BIOS upgrades, firmware upgrades, OS installation and configuration remotely
• Build and configure switch and management interfaces for remote access for test engineers
• Support issues and resolve promptly for C&I teams
• Maintain system uptime and resolve hardware issues, determining required equipment/processes and solutions
• Utilize testing equipment such as DVM, Ethernet test sets, Fiber test sets, spectrum analyzer, Wireshark, power meters, signal generators, current clamps, and hand tools
• Analyze test engineer needs to plan and implement systems tailored to those requirements
• Perform regular system tests to ensure components are operating correctly
• Maintain lab inventory, support contracts, and order components and materials as required
• Create and maintain network diagrams, IP plans, and CRLs
• Travel to customer sites for field installations and support (approximately 20% of the time, may be greater)

• Handle multiple tasks concurrently, prioritizing and completing them accurately in stressful environments
• Solve technical problems independently
• Analyze use of all network facilities
• Interact well with all levels of management, co-workers, and customers
• Maintain strong oral and written communication skills
• Utilize strong computer skills, especially with Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows OS, RHEL/Oracle Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS, and Wind River OS
• Perform physical installations of RAN and Core equipment, including servers, storage, switches, remote units, and MMUs
• Maintain and configure Dell and HPE enterprise servers
• Work in telecom industry with 4G and 5G RAN and CORE systems
• Use virtualization and containerization platforms such as VMware, OpenStack, OpenShift
• Use monitoring systems
• Have solid background in DC power, breakers, fiber, RF, grounding, and basic networking

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in hardware or systems engineering
• Experience with Windows, Linux (RHEL, Oracle, Ubuntu, CentOS) and Wind River OS installation and troubleshooting
• Experience with server management (Dell and HPE enterprise servers)
• Telecom industry experience with 4G and 5G RAN and CORE systems
• Basic knowledge of virtualization (VMware) and containerization (OpenShift, OpenStack)
• Proficiency in using test equipment (DVM, spectrum analyzer, Wireshark, power meters, signal generators)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
