Your Impact

We are searching for a practical Hardware Engineer to spearhead the creation of advanced electronic solutions tailored for rugged commercial and defense environments. You will be expected to manage the entire lifecycle of your designs, including schematic capture and PCB layout; this is a hands-on position rather than a high-level architecture role. The ideal candidate has successfully guided boards from initial concept to final production, demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot and learn from real-world failures.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage the complete hardware lifecycle, from initial schematic capture and layout to prototyping, board bring-up, and final production support.
• Develop circuit boards specifically for defense, industrial, or rugged commercial use cases rather than high-volume consumer goods.
• Implement microprocessor-based designs, utilizing digital interfaces like ADC, GPIO, and high-speed buses alongside general mixed-signal circuitry.
• Engineer power electronics within the 1-5kW range to ensure robust performance for demanding applications.
• Facilitate seamless integration with the firmware team through thoughtful hardware design, with prior firmware experience being a beneficial asset.
• Partner with systems and mechanical engineers to ensure hardware is effectively integrated into complete electro-mechanical systems.
• Represent the technical team during client-facing design reviews and project status updates.
• Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools as a standard part of your workflow to drive efficiency and innovation.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated history of navigating a full product cycle, from design through production and into field support, rather than focusing on isolated components.
• Proven expertise in ground-up PCB design; candidates must have experience performing their own layout work.
• Proficiency in Altium Designer is highly preferred, though experience with other tools like KiCad or Eagle will be considered if your technical background is otherwise strong.
• Solid understanding of high-speed routing, bus design, and microprocessor-based digital architecture.
• Practical experience with power supply or battery design in the 1-5kW range.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to discuss past board failures and the specific steps taken to resolve them during an interview.
• A proactive and open-minded approach to incorporating AI tools into your daily engineering processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in designing ruggedized products for medical, automotive, industrial, or aerospace/defense sectors.
• Familiarity with rugged design standards such as MIL-STD-810 environmental or MIL-STD-461 EMI, or similar industrial/medical equivalents.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not strictly required if your professional experience is sufficient.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen (born or naturalized); we are unable to provide sponsorship for green card holders or other non-citizens.
• No active security clearance is necessary, but you must be eligible to meet ITAR requirements.
