• Support a team of electrical hardware designers through technical direction, task execution, and productivity improvements
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to integrate electrical hardware designs
• Contribute to embedded designs for advanced module architectures
• Lead or support IC design and development strategies
• Lead electrical schematic development and support PCB layout
• Assess hardware design feasibility across cost, performance, reliability, timing, and manufacturability
• Support digital/analog hardware designs involving 12V power electronics, Gigabit Ethernet, processors, and memory
• Perform and review circuit-level and system-level electrical worst-case analysis
• Represent the GM hardware team as a design expert
• Optimize parametric tests and finalize end-of-line production tests
• Lead build-to-print engineering processes and liaise with the contract house
• Lead product development across Detroit and the San Francisco Bay Area engineering hubs
• Refine and optimize requirements with the Milford Proving Grounds team
• Support DFMEA and PFMEA activities
• Support and lead bench-level testing, waveform acquisition, vehicle checks, and hardware stress tests
• Support EMC and environmental validation, including test plans, troubleshooting, debugging, and countermeasures
• Lead design and manufacturing quality investigations, root-cause analysis, and resolution activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Professional experience creating digital/analog hardware interfaces, including schematic creation and/or PCB layout and supportive documentation
- Minimum 1 year of experience in automotive hardware electronics design
- Experience with Siemens Xpedition tool set, Mathcad, PSPICE, and Saber
- Knowledge of hardware tools including oscilloscopes, function generators, and soldering equipment
