Electrical Hardware engineer requirements

Bachelors degree (required) in electrical engineering with 5+ years hardware design experience.

Duties

Assist in running bench tests and bringing up boards. Meet with other team members

throughout the day. Assist software engineers and techs in the lab with the work they are

doing.

Design experience is also needed with component selection experience.

Design and have built electronic circuits under the guidance of the lead electrical engineer.

This lead engineer has a strong understanding of how the circuit needs to be designed and

so will provide reference designs to get you headed in the right direction. You will need to

possibly do some analysis however. And then you will do the schematic capture and direct

the activities of the PCB layout person (you will not lay out the boards but you must review

them and direct the work of the layout person). Check the paperwork and create ECOs to

release it.

You will write the board validation plan and perform all testing personally. These circuits are

mostly analog, heavy in op amps.

Strong understanding of analog and digital hardware, including voltage regulators (linear

and switchers), op amps, transistors, microcontrollers, high speed communications, and

You will assist in the bringing up and debugging of other PCBs in this program.

5+ years experience designing, testing and debugging electrical hardware circuits (analog

and digital), and systems to the component level.

5 years min experience using oscilloscopes and function generators regularly. Meaning at

least a few days per month. IE 100 days over your career using 'scopes, DMMs, power

supplies and function generators.

Excellent technical writing skills including experience writing specifications and test plans

Experience with schematic capture programs. Cadence is preferred.

Ability to look at a schematic and determine how to eiciently test each section, including

to build custom test jigs to allow for fast testing of individual sub-sections.

Ability to work from minimal verbal requirements, capture those into written technical

documents (IE write up test plans and spec) and then execute these test plans. Ability to

produce written test reports for these tests.

Ability to read data sheets for complex devices and then boil that down into what the

software/firmware engineers need to do to make that chip work. For example for I2C and
