Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BE/BC Fellowship Trained Hand Surgeon to join Sanford Clinic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This role involves providing surgical, medical, and rehabilitative care for patients with conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and forearm. The successful candidate will join a premier group practice within a state-of-the-art orthopedic facility, contributing to world-class healthcare in America's heartland.

Practice Info

  • Join Sanford Clinic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, a group of four Hand Surgeons.
  • Practice with 30 regionally recognized orthopedic surgeons, four podiatrists, three family medicine/sports trained physicians, and one neuropsychologist.
  • Associated with Sanford USD Medical Center Orthopedic facility, which houses orthopedics, rehabilitation, physiatry, neurosciences, and podiatry physicians.
  • The Van Demark Building offers various therapeutic specialties and durable medical equipment.
  • New Orthopedic Hospital opened January 2026, featuring 12 operating rooms, 35 pre/post rooms, and 19 future inpatient rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide surgical, medical, and rehabilitative care of patients with diseases, injuries, and disorders affecting the hand, wrist, and forearm.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a residency in Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, or Plastic Surgery, followed by a one-year fellowship in Hand Surgery.
  • Must hold an active medical license for each state in which the physician practices - either physically or virtually.
  • Must have a DEA for each state in which the physician physically practices.
  • BE/BC in Hand Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, American Board of Plastic Surgery, or the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery or equivalent (American Osteopathic Board, Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada).
  • If physician is not board certified upon commencement of employment, they must achieve board certification as outlined in the privileging documents.
