Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BE/BC Fellowship Trained Hand Surgeon to join Sanford Clinic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This role involves providing surgical, medical, and rehabilitative care for patients with conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and forearm. - Join Sanford Clinic Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, a group of four Hand Surgeons.
- Practice with 30 regionally recognized orthopedic surgeons, four podiatrists, three family medicine/sports trained physicians, and one neuropsychologist.
- Associated with Sanford USD Medical Center Orthopedic facility, which houses orthopedics, rehabilitation, physiatry, neurosciences, and podiatry physicians.
- The Van Demark Building offers various therapeutic specialties and durable medical equipment.
- New Orthopedic Hospital opened January 2026, featuring 12 operating rooms, 35 pre/post rooms, and 19 future inpatient rooms.
Responsibilities
- Provide surgical, medical, and rehabilitative care of patients with diseases, injuries, and disorders affecting the hand, wrist, and forearm.

Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Successful completion of a residency in Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, or Plastic Surgery, followed by a one-year fellowship in Hand Surgery.
- Must hold an active medical license for each state in which the physician practices - either physically or virtually.
- Must have a DEA for each state in which the physician physically practices.
- BE/BC in Hand Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, American Board of Plastic Surgery, or the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery or equivalent (American Osteopathic Board, Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada).
- If physician is not board certified upon commencement of employment, they must achieve board certification as outlined in the privileging documents.
