Guidance Counselor
Head School Counselor - under the direction of the High School Principal, provides leadership and direction to the Counseling Department and assumes responsibilities in developing, implementing and evaluating a school counseling and guidance program that includes academic, career, personal/social development. Full time counseling position, reporting to the building principal.
Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey Educational Certificate as a School Counselor
- Master's Degree in School Counseling with a K-12 population
- License/Certificate in School Counseling
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of counseling theories and techniques
- Proficient in the use of technology including (SIS, Excel, Canva, Google Workspace, and Naviance)
Student Counseling and Academic Support:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students to support academic achievement.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to seek high achieving standards and develop a readiness for next level education.
- Support the school counseling program by advocating and sustaining the roles and responsibilities of school counselors as per the ASCA model.
- Assist students in reaching their potential and make improvements based collaborative designed plans for student academic and socioemotional growth.
- Innovative future thinker who can spearhead new developments in the counseling department for academic planning.
Parent and Teacher Collaboration:
- Consult with parents, teachers, and other staff to address academic opportunities.
- Facilitate communication between students, parents and school in delivering specific programming.
- Create and deliver presentations for parents and staff members on a monthly basis.
