General Summary of Duties:
The Group Sales Manager will act as a hotel -client liaison while identifying, developing and maintaining property sales objectives, sales plans, and programs in accordance with the hotel's overall marketing plan and mission statement.
Examples of Duties
- Conduct solicitation efforts through effective oral and written communication while managing rate, date and space commitments for room sales within the hotel
- Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients
- Manage all sales systems, lead referrals, and record efforts
- Conduct site tours for potential clients
- Aim to achieve and exceed individual and team annual goals
- Be fully knowledgeable of competitive markets outside the area
- Be fully knowledgeable of the capabilities and limitations of the hotel and departments that may impact sales strategies
- Work closely with client after booking to develop good working relationship, including letter of introduction, meeting planner materials, prompt response to calls and requests
- Maintain detailed records of discussions with guest, including room accommodations, all meeting setups, food and beverage, transportation, etc.
- Upsell to improve revenue generation on property
- Respond and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner
- Maintain and correct procedures for credit control, financial transactions, and security of financial assets
- Organize and/or attend scheduled Sales Department and related meetings
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
Position Requirements
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
- Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressive, results driven, hotel sales experience required
- Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, leadership, time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Ability to accurately use various office and accounting software
- Must possess strong computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel and CI/TY
- Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be able to work effectively, without supervision
Education
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality or related major preferred
