GroundskeeperWage/Hour Status: NonexemptReports to: Maintenance SupervisorDept./School: OperationsDate Revised: 07/15/2026Primary PurposeMaintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district.QualificationsEducation/Certification:High School Diploma or GED preferredValid Texas driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to read and understand written instructionsAbility to communicate (verbally)Ability to operate tractor and landscaping equipmentAbility to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand toolsExperience:One year experience in groundsMajor Responsibilities and DutiesGrounds and LandscapingMow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields.Care for trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, mulching, caring for beds.Plant shrubs and vegetation.Water grounds and flowerbeds as needed.Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities.Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.SafetyOperate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.Help keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.Equipment UsedTractor and mower, riding and power mower, gas-powered weed trimmer, blower, edger, sprayer, striping machine, garden and hand tools, posthole auger, and aerator.
