Groundman – Responsibilities
The Groundman supports construction and maintenance of overhead electrical distribution systems. Duties include building, repairing, and maintaining overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware under the supervision of the Foreman.
Assist in new construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions and be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on‑call rotation.
Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and proper isolation of electrical potential. Inspect rubber goods and PPE; understand when to wear personal protective equipment.
Be willing to travel long distances on short notice and have a valid Driver’s License; must obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work extended periods at job locations, including out‑of‑state assignments and outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying environmental conditions.
Willingness to travel long distances on short notice and work outside normal business hours.
Availability for outages, storms, emergencies, and on‑call rotation.
Strong knowledge of safety protocols and PPE usage.
Physical Demands
While performing the responsibilities of this job, you will be required to talk, listen and use hand signals to communicate. The job frequently requires you to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle objects, operate tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
