Ground Software Engineer
Job Description & Position Responsibilities
Penta Research is seeking a Ground Software Engineer working with a commercial satellite company. The candidate will be responsible for software development primarily in Python and Go languages in AWS environments in support of Satellite and/or Space Vehicle (SV) payload deployments and transport into Low‑Earth Orbit (LEO). The candidate must have familiarity with cloud platform operations, external software API integration, fault detection and recovery, and requirements support. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to work effectively in a rapid‑paced team environment.
Basic Qualifications
* Bash scripting experience
* SQL experience
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in engineering or computer science
* Minimum of 5 years of software development experience
* Experience with Linux server administration
* Experience with Kubernetes and Helm deployments
* Experience with messaging frameworks such as Kinesis, MQTT, ROS2, RabbitMQ, etc.
* Knowledge of software development tools such as GitLab CI/CD
* Strong problem‑solving skills, including the ability to review performance and identify root cause and recommend solutions
* Good verbal and written communication skills, must be able to work independently and possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment
Desired Qualifications
* Familiarity with the Space Development Agency, NASA experience
* AWS networking configuration experience
* Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2)
