Overview

Ground Mission Systems Software Architect role at Boeing. The position is part of the Space Mission Systems (SMS) Ground Mission Management (GMM) team with locations in Chantilly, VA; Colorado Springs, CO; or El Segundo, CA. The role focuses on leading technical approaches to multiple satellite ground-based programs, campaigns, and R&D projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the design, development, analyses, and maintenance of software systems
  • Partners with stakeholders to oversee translation of software requirements and models that meet customer, operational and performance requirements
  • Oversees completion of software system-level analyses to identify risk, issues and opportunities
  • Oversees code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards
  • Oversees review of product and process for alignment with project plans and industry standards
  • Researches and oversees implementation of current and emerging software technologies, tools, and frameworks

Basic Qualifications (Required)

  • 10+ years of experience in foundational Computer Science knowledge and object-oriented design and software patterns
  • Experience leading software development projects
  • Experience in agile software development environment and DevOps methodologies
  • Experience with distributed version control systems such as GitHub, IBM Rational Team Concert, etc.
  • Active Top Secret

Preferred Qualifications (Desired)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience as a software architect on a program
  • 10+ years’ experience in Java/C++ programming on full stack software projects/programs
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks (React, jQuery, Open Layers, etc.), Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, MongoDB, XML, SOAP, REST, WSDL
  • Experience using dependency management (Ivy, Maven, Gradle)
  • Experience developing and maintaining SOAP, RMI, REST APIs and interfaces
  • Experience using cloud-based infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
  • Experience using automation server (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with TDD, agile software development, CI, and dependency management
  • Familiarity with Agile or SAFe practices
  • Experience with satellite ground mission capabilities, products, and/or customers
  • Experience with DevSecOps and CI
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Work Location & Travel

This position is expected to be 100% onsite at one of the listed locations. Travel: More than 10%

Export Control Requirements: This position must meet export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. U.S. Person includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).
