Elite Construction Company is delighted to announce an available position for a Ground Laborer - Small Equipment Operator. As a Ground Laborer - Small Equipment Operator, you will work alongside a committed team that values safety, efficiency, and teamwork. This job demands a proactive attitude, physical stamina, and a keenness to work in diverse weather conditions. This employment offers a competitive salary scale of $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on experience, with a defined time frame of 5 weeks of intensive work engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean up sites by removing wet and dry sawdust, saw chips, broken boards, wood bark, and other debris using tools such as shovels, brooms, and wheelbarrows.
- Periodically lift and move heavy objects, like log pieces and boards, to shoulder height to clear work areas and assist in project setups.
- Operate and provide basic maintenance for small equipment while adhering to safety procedures, including pre-and-post-use inspections and documentation.
- Load and unload construction materials from trucks, assisting in material management and project logistics.
- Use small hand tools and operate chainsaws with proper safety precautions.
- Perform routine housekeeping duties in the yard to maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Carry out fueling and maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Participate in safety and training meetings, and follow all company safety protocols and standards.
- Be willing to work additional hours, during nights or weekends, and in various weather conditions as the job demands.
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to and from the work site.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and maintain a drug-free status throughout the duration of the project.
- Previous experience in construction, quarry environments, or similar settings is preferred but not mandatory.
- Physical capability to perform labor-intensive duties for extended periods.
- A strong commitment to safety, including adherence to all health, safety, and environmental policies in all work areas.
- Must possess the capability to operate chainsaws and other small machinery following comprehensive safety guidelines.
- Availability to work overtime, during nights or weekends, as needed by project demands.
- Dependability and willingness to cross-train on various heavy equipment as required by task variability.
- A proactive attitude in maintaining equipment, attending training sessions, and performing tasks as requested by supervisors or project leads.
