Full Time • Salaried • EOE

Typical Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4pm, with occasional evenings for public meetings and funder events

Affordable homeownership for hardworking families depends on funding that is found early, earned carefully, utilized responsibly, and managed well at Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio. The Grants + Compliance Manager is the researcher, organizer, and steward behind our grants program, not its writer. You own the pipeline from prospect to closeout: identifying and qualifying foundation, corporate, and government opportunities, building budgets and attachments, managing submission, and then handling award administration, compliance, and reporting. The communications team writes the content; you make sure it’s aimed at the right funders, built on verified numbers, submitted complete and on time, and honored after the award. The precision you bring to this work empowers families across east central Ohio to build and buy their homes.

This position reports to: the Chief Executive Officer and works closely with the Accounting + Business Manager on grant budgets, drawdowns, and reconciliation, and with the Chief Communications + Systems Officer and the communications team on the grants calendar, data, and deadlines. The Grants + Compliance Manager collaborates with program, construction, and communications staff across the organization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Grant Research + Pipeline Management

  • Research, identify, and evaluate foundation, corporate, and local, county, state, and federal government funding opportunities against program needs, eligible uses, match requirements, and organizational capacity
  • Maintain the organizational grants pipeline and master calendar, including prospects, application deadlines, renewal cycles, reporting dates, and the status of every application and award
  • Brief the communications team on each opportunity, including funder priorities, eligibility, required attachments, budget parameters, and deadlines, so writing begins with a complete picture
  • Develop project-specific budgets with Finance, then assemble and submit complete application packages, including attachments, certifications, and supporting documentation, through funder portals and registrations such as SAM.gov and state, county, and municipal grant systems

Compliance + Award Administration

  • Review and interpret grant agreements, award conditions, eligible-use requirements, procurement standards, and reporting obligations; coordinate execution with leadership, Finance, and legal counsel as needed; communicate requirements clearly to affected staff and escalate material risks
  • Monitor active grants for compliance with programmatic, financial, procurement, documentation, reimbursement, and closeout requirements, and coordinate corrective action when concerns arise
  • Manage interim and final reporting for all funders, including the performance, financial, and beneficiary reporting that government awards require, supplying verified program data and financial documentation, coordinating narrative content with the communications team, and submitting on time through funder systems
  • Prepare drawdown and reimbursement requests with Finance, reconcile expenditures against approved budgets on a set cycle, and flag variances early
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready grant files and support the annual audit, single audit requirements, and funder monitoring visits

Data + Records

  • Maintain the verified data set used in all funder-facing documents, including family partnership, construction, home repair, program outcome, and household eligibility figures that government funders require, checked against primary internal records
  • Provide verified data, budgets, financial documentation, and attachments to the communications team for proposals and reports

Funder Relationships

  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for funders on application logistics, compliance, and reporting, and maintain productive working relationships with foundation program officers, corporate giving contacts, and public funding agencies
  • Represent Habitat at funder briefings, public funding meetings, and jurisdictional planning discussions as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, nonprofit management, business, finance, affordable housing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience in grant research, grant administration, or grant compliance, including local, state, or federal government funding
  • Experience managing regulated funding from award through reporting and closeout, including grant agreements, documentation standards, and compliance obligations
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and submitting government grant reports, including performance measures, financial reports, and beneficiary or eligibility documentation, in federal, state, or local reporting systems
  • Experience developing grant budgets, tracking eligible costs, and supporting drawdown or reimbursement requests
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to learn CRM, grant research databases, and funder portal systems
  • Experience with housing or community development funding, including HUD, Ohio Department of Development, or Ohio Housing Finance Agency programs, preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional travel across the five-county service area
  • Have and maintain a clear criminal record

Key Skills Needed to Succeed in this Position

  • Exceptionally accurate and detail-oriented, with the discipline to read every attachment and check every number against its source
  • Skilled researcher who reads funder guidelines closely, judges fit honestly, and knows when to pass on an opportunity
  • Sound judgment in identifying compliance risks and recommending practical solutions
  • Comfortable asking one more question rather than submitting something uncertain

Physical and Other Requirements:

Must be able to perform typical office-based work. Occasional travel to construction sites, ReStore, and community locations for funder site visits, public meetings, and events.
