Grants Accountant

Location: Tampa, FL - Hybrid

Role: Direct Hire

Pay: $60,000–$70,000

Position Overview

We are seeking a Grant Accountant to join a nonprofit finance team and support the accounting, reporting, and compliance of grant-funded programs. This role is ideal for someone with nonprofit grant accounting or fund accounting experience who is comfortable working with grant requirements, budgets, financial reporting, and multiple deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare grant financial reports, invoices, and supporting documentation for submission to funders.
• Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and projections to ensure funds are used appropriately.
• Review grant agreements to understand funding restrictions, reporting requirements, and compliance guidelines.
• Reconcile grant-related accounts and research discrepancies or necessary adjustments.
• Monitor fund coding and ensure transactions are accurately recorded.
• Review and monitor payroll allocations to ensure expenses are properly assigned to grants.
• Assist with grant budgets, projections, year-end reporting, audits, and supporting schedules.
• Serve as a financial resource for funders and sub-recipients as needed.
• Work with grant managers and program staff to ensure financial activity aligns with grant agreements and deadlines.
• Apply indirect costs and assist with other grant accounting activities.
• Support additional finance and organizational projects as needed.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of nonprofit grant accounting or fund accounting experience
• Strong understanding of grant budgets, financial reporting, and compliance requirements
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to learn new grant requirements, systems, and processes quickly
• Must be comfortable working in a mission-driven nonprofit environment and interested in work that directly supports the organization's community impact
