This is a great opportunity for someone with strong field experience, leadership skills, and the ability to keep crews working safely, efficiently, and according to project plans.As a Grading Foreman, you'll be responsible for leading a grading crew, coordinating daily work in the field, and ensuring project tasks are completed safely, on time, and to specification. Our grading crews work on large commercial sites, roadway widening projects, highways, interstates, port-related projects, and other heavy civil construction projects throughout the Lowcountry.This team helps shape the site and prepare it for the next phase of construction by performing earthwork, grading, drainage support, and other site preparation activities.What You'll DoAs a Grading Foreman, you'll lead field crews and help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans and specifications.
You may be responsible for:Leading and directing grading crew members in daily field operationsReviewing and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specificationsCoordinating daily work activities with the Project SuperintendentInspecting work progress, equipment, and jobsites to ensure safety and quality standards are metDirecting crew members on the proper procedures to complete work safely, on time, and within budgetHelping ensure crews are properly staffed, equipped, and prepared for the work aheadTraining crew members on construction methods, equipment operation, safety procedures, and company policiesLocating, measuring, and marking site locations, grades, and structure placement as neededCoordinating with project teams, other departments, subcontractors, and technical personnel to resolve issues and keep work movingMonitoring production, identifying challenges, and communicating needs to leadershipRecording personnel, production, and operational information on required forms or reportsSupporting safety expectations and promoting a strong safety culture within the crewAssisting with personnel feedback, staffing needs, and crew developmentWhat We're Looking ForWe are looking for an experienced grading leader who can take ownership of the work, communicate clearly, and lead a crew in a fast-paced field environment. The ideal candidate:Has significant experience in grading, earthwork, site work, or heavy civil constructionHas prior experience leading crews or serving in a foreman/lead roleUnderstands construction drawings, plans, grades, and specificationsHas strong attention to detail and qualityCan stay focused and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environmentIs a self-starter and highly motivatedCommunicates clearly with crew members, superintendents, project teams, and other tradesTakes safety seriously and leads by exampleIs dependable and committed to showing up prepared each dayCan train, coach, and develop crew membersIs comfortable working outdoors in active construction environmentsHas a valid driver's license and reliable transportationExperience operating grading equipment, managing grading crews, or working on roadway/heavy civil projects is strongly preferred.ScheduleThis is a field-based leadership position, and hours may vary depending on project needs, weather, and crew schedules.
