Grade ForemanCaton Construction Group is growing! Currently seeking a Grade Foreman for our roadway construction project in Halifax County, Virginia.The Grade Foreman is a field position that is responsible to organize and lead a crew to safely and efficiently perform mass earthwork and excavating activities, balancing highway and road construction/reconstruction. The Foreperson works under the general direction of the Superintendent.Essential functions include coordinating construction work according to priorities and plans, planning, organizing and leading grading crew, producing schedules and monitoring attendance of crew, allocating general and daily responsibilities, coordinating tasks according to priorities and plans, scheduling aggregate material quantities and deliveries, determining trucking needs and scheduling truck, supervising and training workers and tradespeople, ensuring all safety precautions and quality standards are met, supervising the use of machinery and equipment, monitoring expenditure and ensuring it remains within budget, resolving problems when they arise, and reporting on progress to managers, engineers etc.This is a full-time position.
Normal days and hours of work are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with time provided for lunch, hours may vary.
Work may be local or out of town in which case overnight stays are required. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work.Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Driver's license is required.
