Government Relations CoordinatorBrooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. The ideal candidate will implement tactics to support government funding strategies, including proposal development, funding reports, application submissions, and other related activities.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Assist in developing and filing government grant proposals and reports to secure government funding and partnershipHandle all administrative duties for the department, including writing meeting minutes, delivering materials to elected officials and commissioners, and arranging tickets for performances, among other essential dutiesAttend meetings with key government officials and their representatives to facilitate an understanding of BAM programs and audiences.Invite key community stakeholders, elected officials, and government staffers to performances, cinema screenings, educational programs, and receptions to cultivate awareness and interest in BAM's missionAttend and represent BAM at community and government events, like community board meetings, rallies, hearings, and other eventsAssists with advocacy efforts for routine government and community support for BAM initiatives and ventures as well as city-wide arts and culture fundingUpdate and manage government contact details, plans, and gifts in TessituraCompile education and community program dataDevelop documents with focused research and data relevant to government and community leadersProcess government funding through various city, state and federal portals and record this data in TessituraDevelop internal and external documents that detail BAM programs and services, like newsletters, cultural district maps, budget hearing testimony, and other materialsAssist with the management and coordination of advancement projects as neededStaff BAM's patron table on select evenings and support select special events like the annual MLK Breakfast and fundraising eventsOccasional evening and weekend work is requiredQualifications include:1-2 years of administrative experience working in an office environmentStrong interest in government and civic issuesExcellent verbal, written and communications skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsExperience with Tessitura or database applicationsReliable and self-motivatedKnowledge of government, local community issues, and organizationsAbility to work independently as well as be a team playerStrong interpersonal skillsStrong initiativeAbility to multi-taskHighly organized with attention to detailCompensation: The salary for this position is $60,000. This role is represented by Local 2110 and will be paid in accordance with the BAM/UAW Local 2110 Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for benefits.
