The Governance Lead establishes and oversees the frameworks, controls, standards, and policies that guide responsible AI. This role helps clients ensure that AI initiatives align with regulatory expectations, internal policies, project management standards, and risk management practices. The Governance Lead partners with business, delivery, and technical teams to promote effective oversight and sustainable execution.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
- Develop and maintain governance frameworks, policies, and procedures for AI initiatives and related technology programs.
- Provide oversight of risk, compliance, documentation, and controls.
- Partner with stakeholders and leaders to align governance requirements with project planning, delivery, and execution.
- Lead and coordinate teams while collaborating closely with peer functions across technology and business operations.
- Support project governance using Traditional and Agile SDLC methodologies and collaboration tools such as VSTS, Jira, and similar platforms.
- Recommend improvements to policies, processes, and governance structures.
- Communicate governance expectations, project status, and recommendations effectively across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing governance models for AI, analytics, automation, cybersecurity, or enterprise technology initiatives.
- Knowledge of responsible AI, data governance, privacy, model oversight, and technology risk management.
- Experience partnering with compliance, legal, security, and executive stakeholders in regulated environments.
- Relevant certifications in project management, governance, risk, compliance, or security preferred.
- Strong understanding of policy development, audit readiness, and control documentation practices.
- Experience supporting governance reporting and executive-level decision-making processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- At least 6 years of related experience required
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience required
- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems Analysis, or Management Information Systems is preferred
- PMP preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare industry regulations, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with business stakeholders and leaders, IT project planning, delivery, and execution using Traditional and Agile SDLC methodologies
- Experience with VSTS, Jira, and/or other team/project collaboration tools
- Ability to work in and lead a team, while communicating and coordinating with peer teams
- Ability to formulate, document and recommend new policies and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
- Ability to travel as required by business and on-call availability
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
