Job Summary
Sherwin-Williams is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Global Fleet and Driver EHS Director to oversee and enhance the safety, compliance, and efficiency of our global fleet operations. This role is responsible for reducing risk by developing and implementing fleet safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement in driver safety across all groups and divisions globally.
Responsibilities
- Fleet and Driver Safety & Compliance: Develop and implement global fleet and driver safety strategy, policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Fleet and Driver Safety & Compliance: Monitor fleet and driver safety performance and support corrective actions as needed.
- Fleet and Driver Safety & Compliance: Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
- Fleet and Driver Safety & Compliance: Collaborate on environmental compliance and risk management initiatives to ensure fleet operations and driver activities align with regulatory standards and sustainability goals.
- Fleet and Driver Safety & Compliance: Evaluate and assess newly acquired operations and wholly owned subsidiaries where Company employees hold transportation roles, ensuring fleet compliance and risk management.
- Driver Safety & Training: Design and oversee driver safety training programs to reduce incidents and improve performance.
- Driver Safety & Training: Ensure guidelines and systems are in place to assist in the implementation of corporate standards and procedures.
- Driver Safety & Training: Inform and support the implementation of driver monitoring systems and analyze data to enhance safety measures.
- Driver Safety & Training: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for driver safety and track progress.
- Driver Safety & Training: Promote a culture of safety and accountability among drivers and fleet personnel.
- Accident Prevention & Risk Management: Investigate accidents and incidents, support root cause identification and preventive measures.
- Accident Prevention & Risk Management: Collaborate with insurance providers and legal teams to manage claims and liability issues.
- Accident Prevention & Risk Management: Develop strategies to minimize fleet-related risks and enhance operational efficiency.
- Technology & Innovation: Evaluate and support the implementation of fleet safety technologies, including telematics and AI-driven monitoring systems.
- Technology & Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to improve fleet safety.
- Technology & Innovation: Partner with internal teams to integrate safety initiatives with broader business objectives.
Qualifications
Formal Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree in safety management, or a related field.
- Preferred: MS; Certifications in Safety or Hazardous Materials management.
Knowledge & Experience
- Required: 3–7 years’ experience in fleet safety management or related EHS field, preferably in a global setting, with minimum 5 years management experience. Knowledge with applicable regulations, such as DOT FMCSA, PHMSA, TDG, etc.
- Preferred: 10 years’ experience in fleet safety management with minimum 10 years management experience in a global setting.
Technical/Skill Requirements
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance standards, and risk management.
- Experience with fleet telematics, driver monitoring systems, and safety analytics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Remaining current and ensuring compliance with the multitude of existing and pending laws and regulations of federal, state, local and international agencies.
- Utilizing product and technical and regulatory knowledge to determine the impact of complicated regulatory requirements on Company operations.
- Developing cost effective solutions to complex regulatory issues and requirements.
- Negotiating with agencies to reduce or avoid regulatory problems.
- Interacting with Company employees and customers at any level of expertise and conveying information in an understandable manner.
- Overseeing and coordinating multiple projects being conducted by Department staff and related division personnel.
