Qualifications
Education and Certification:
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas School Counselor Certificate required
- Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements
- Knowledge of counseling theories, practices, and techniques
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Knowledge of college, career, and military readiness requirements
- Ability to provide individual and group counseling services
- Ability to analyze student data and develop intervention strategies
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Experience in school counseling preferred
- Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
Counseling Services
- Provide individual and group counseling to support student academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success
- Assist students in developing personal, educational, and career goals
- Support students experiencing academic, behavioral, attendance, or personal challenges
- Assist with crisis intervention and student support services as needed
- Support students in academic planning and goal setting
- Assist students and families with graduation requirements and postsecondary planning
- Promote college, career, and military readiness initiatives
- Coordinate career exploration and awareness activities
- Participate in student support teams and intervention meetings
- Assist with attendance improvement efforts and dropout prevention initiatives
- Collaborate with staff to identify and support at-risk students
- Coordinate referrals to community agencies and support services as appropriate
- Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, and community organizations
- Provide guidance and resources to families regarding student needs and available services
- Participate in campus committees, meetings, and professional learning opportunities
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Support campus and district initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration
