GIS Technician 2Location: Naperville, IL 60563 HYBRIDContract- 3 Years Travel Requirement: Up to 5%Job Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled GIS Technician 2 to support spatial data development, analysis, and integration activities in a utility or pipeline environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Esri platforms, linear referencing, and GIS data maintenance workflows. This position is critical in ensuring data accuracy, supporting GIS project deliverables, and developing process improvements across GIS operations.Key Responsibilities:Conduct GIS data analysis, mining, and transformation to meet internal and external stakeholder needsCreate, manage, and update spatial data using Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS 10.2x platformsPerform data quality control (QA/QC) on versioned geodatabases prior to production releaseSupport database design and application testing; document and troubleshoot defectsInterface with business users to gather requirements and implement requested changesDevelop automated tools using Model Builder or Python scriptingUtilize linear referencing techniques to maintain and analyze utility pipeline and asset dataConvert and process spatial and tabular data formats into GIS-compatible formatsAnalyze and recommend improvements to existing GIS workflows and business processesPrepare custom maps, reports, and queries for project teams and operational stakeholdersStay up-to-date with evolving GIS technologies and contribute to team innovationQualifications:Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Geography (GIS), Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2–4 years of GIS experience ORGIS certificate with 2+ years of related work experience in lieu of a degreeExperience in a utility or pipeline GIS environment (minimum 1 year preferred)Technical Skills:Technology - ProficiencyEsri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS 10.2x - AdvancedLinear Referencing - AdvancedMS Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) - AdvancedArcGIS Enterprise, Geometric Network - IntermediateModel Builder, Python, SQL (RDBMS) - IntermediateAutoCAD/CADD, Visual Basic/VBA, SharePoint - BasicAdditional Skills:Strong geoprocessing and spatial analysis expertiseExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProven ability to review requirements and translate into GIS solutionsCapable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentAble to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and adapt to changing project needsQuick to learn and implement new GIS technologies and tools
