ABOUT AGRICAPTURE
AgriCapture develops high-integrity agricultural carbon projects globally. Our rice methane reduction programs combine strong Implementation Partnerships, disciplined MRV, and rigorous methodology to deliver durable climate outcomes for farmers and corporate buyers. We also develop water solutions, including Volumetric Water Benefit (VWB) projects, that help companies deliver on their water stewardship commitments.
POSITION SUMMARY
AgriCapture is seeking a self-directed GIS Analyst with 2–4 years of professional experience to own key parts of our geospatial workflow, from data acquisition and quality control through analysis, remote sensing, and stakeholder-facing deliverables. Working closely with the GIS Manager, the Analyst will lead site eligibility and practice verification analyses, build and maintain web and mobile GIS applications, and develop repeatable, scripted workflows that scale with our project portfolio.
Given the size of the AgriCapture team, this role touches nearly every facet of GIS and offers real ownership. The ideal candidate is an organized problem-solver who can manage multiple projects at once, make sound technical decisions independently, and translate complex spatial results into clear insights for non-technical audiences. This is a dynamic, fast-paced position with the opportunity to shape geospatial practices at a growing company poised to have a positive environmental impact.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE
- Lead the acquisition, integration, and quality control of spatial and tabular data supporting AgriCapture projects
- Design and run spatial analyses that determine project eligibility and support carbon and Climate-Friendly certification
- Apply remote sensing techniques to monitor, confirm, and verify agricultural practices across project types
- Build and maintain interactive maps, dashboards, and applications that communicate project impact to internal and external stakeholders
- Improve efficiency and consistency by automating workflows and strengthening AgriCapture data standards
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, edit, and validate project field boundaries from varied sources (producer submissions, CLU data, imagery, GPS/field collection), resolving topology and attribution issues
- Conduct site eligibility analyses on agricultural lands (e.g., land use history, land cover change, soils, protected areas) and document methods and results
- Perform remote sensing analyses (e.g., vegetation indices, change detection, image classification) using platforms such as Google Earth Engine to verify practices like grazing management, cover cropping, and tillage
- Develop and automate geoprocessing workflows using Python (ArcPy, GeoPandas, ModelBuilder, or similar tools)
- Configure and maintain ArcGIS Online content, including Survey123 forms, Field Maps, Experience Builder apps, and Dashboards
- Manage and organize spatial databases, metadata, and data standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and audit-readiness for verification bodies
- Produce maps, visualizations, and story-driven geospatial products for project, business development, and marketing teams
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project, science, and market teams to integrate geospatial insights into overall strategies and objectives
- Write and edit technical documentation, including methodologies, SOPs, and project reports
- Mentor GIS Technicians and interns, reviewing work for quality and providing technical guidance
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Systems/Science, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field with a GIS certificate
- 2–4 years of professional GIS experience
- Advanced proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, including Esri applications such as Survey123, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and Dashboards
- Hands-on experience with remote sensing analysis and working with satellite or aerial imagery (e.g., Sentinel-2, Landsat, NAIP)
- Working knowledge of Python for GIS automation and analysis
- Strong understanding of spatial data management, projections, topology, and data quality control
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly in writing and to non-technical audiences
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and presenting geographic data and maps
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, or a related field
- GIS Professional (GISP) certification or progress toward it
- Experience with Google Earth Engine (JavaScript or Python API) and open-source GIS tools such as QGIS, GDAL, or PostGIS
- Experience with R, SQL, or JavaScript for analysis, data management, or web mapping
- Experience in agriculture, carbon markets, MRV (measurement, reporting, and verification), environmental science, or natural resources management
- Familiarity with USDA datasets (e.g., CDL, CLU, SSURGO) and agricultural land use classifications
- Experience working with version control (e.g., Git) and collaborative code environments
