Geotechnical Senior Engineer IThe Geotechnical Senior Engineer I must possess a strong technical background and sound engineering judgement which will be applied in the development of proposals and technical deliverables for a diverse range of projects, primarily in the industrial sector.Essential FunctionsActively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values"Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics"Works collaboratively in a team environment; interacts with individuals at all organizational levels in professional mannerPrepares scope of work documents for geotechnical investigations and site-specific seismic studiesCoordinates efforts of geotechnical subconsultants and field soil boring locationsReviews geotechnical reports and site-specific seismic reports prepared by consultantsAdvises and coordinates with foundation engineers to optimize foundation solutionsStrong understanding of geotechnical principles for shallow and deep foundationsWorking knowledge of soil improvement techniquesPerforms field activities, such as observing and documenting existing conditions, observing and documenting soil conditions during excavations and foundation placementPrepares foundation settlement calculationsPrepares slope stability calculationsPrepares evaluations for liquefaction potentialPerforms design of retaining walls and prepares scope of work for mechanically stabilized earthen retaining wallsApplies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice areaFormulates and solves problemsProvide input for proposals regarding geotechnical requirementsReceives general direction on key objectivesAssists in preparation of proposalsCoordinates with engineers, designers and administrative staffInteracts with PM, client, customers, officials, contractors and othersPerforms other related duties, as directedQualificationsBS or MS in Civil Engineering, specializing in Geotechnical EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) registration preferred6+ years engineering experience in geotechnical engineering of industrial facilities such as gas plants, liquid terminals, LNG facilities, chemical plants, and bulk material handling facilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlinesDetail oriented, committed to qualityDemonstratives a proactive approach and consistently positive demeanorKnowledge of codes and standards relevant to geotechnical design (ASCE-7, IBC, e.g.)Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)Proficient in Microsoft WORD and ExcelOccasional overtime and travel may be requiredAt Matrix, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace.
