Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer / Assistant Project Manager or Assistant Technical SpecialistGZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is seeking a Mid-Level Geotechnical Engineer / Assistant Project Manager or Assistant Technical Technical Specialist to join our transportation, building, energy, and infrastructure practice. This position will be based in Norwood or Amesbury, MA and involves local and regional travel.The successful candidate will support projects through proposal, contract, and execution phases, with responsibility for the day-to-day technical delivery of work.

Strong academic credentials, geotechnical engineering expertise, analytical ability, communication skills, and a collaborative mindset are essential.Why GZA:Mentorship and hands-on training from industry experts, with a clear path toward becoming a Project Manager or Technical Specialist and long-term career growthCollaboration with multidisciplinary professionals on complex and prominent projectsOngoing professional development and enrichmentA dynamic, team-oriented work environmentOpportunities for company stock ownershipCompetitive, company-subsidized benefits including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)Flexible work schedule with potential for hybrid remote workSmall firm feel with a larger firm reputation and resourcesKey Responsibilities:Plan, coordinate, and oversee subsurface exploration and construction observation/field testing activitiesAssist with task management on large project teams or independently manage smaller projects, including delegation to field staffExecute day-to-day technical project tasks and contribute to design deliverables in accordance with QA/QC standardsMonitor project performance, budgets, and compliance with contractual requirementsAssist with proposal development and preparation, review, and authorship of geotechnical reportsParticipate in staff training and support GZA's "One Company" approach by assisting with tasks outside primary responsibilities as neededQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferredEngineer in Training (EIT) required; intent to obtain PE within 1–2 yearsMinimum of 5 years of relevant experience (Master's degree may substitute for up to 2 years)Experience with geotechnical design and construction for foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, ground improvement, and related evaluationsAbility to perform and manage fieldwork and construction oversightStrong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsProficiency with MS Office and geotechnical software (e.g., SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, LPILE, GROUP, Settle 3D, WEAP, or similar); proficiency with Autodesk CAD programs is a plusThe base salary for this position may range between $85,000-120,000.
