Engineer-In-Training (Eit)Mott MacDonald is seeking a passionate and driven Engineer-In-Training (EIT) to join our dynamic NYC or NJ team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to some of the most complex and transformative underground infrastructure projects across North America. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, sustainable, and resilient tunnel solutions.As an EIT, you'll be supported through mentorship, technical training, and hands-on project experience to help you grow into a confident and capable professional engineer.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the design and analysis of tunnel structures, shafts, caverns, and underground transit systemsSupport geotechnical and structural assessments using numerical modeling and design softwarePrepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineersParticipate in site investigations, inspections, and construction support activitiesCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, civil, and environmental engineersContribute to sustainability and carbon-conscious design initiativesEngage in internal knowledge-sharing and professional development programsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering3+ years of full-time experienceRegistered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT)Strong academic foundation in soil and/or rock mechanics, structural analysis, and underground constructionProficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Plaxis, FLAC, or similar toolsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsEnthusiasm for working on complex infrastructure projects and learning from industry leadersPreferred Experience:Exposure to tunnel excavation methods such as tunnel boring machines (TBM), NATM / SEM, or cut-and-cover methodsAdvanced degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural EngineeringBenefits & RewardAt Mott MacDonald, our employees have a stake and a voice in our business, providing them with a direct connection to our success through our personal and group performance bonuses.
