Geotechnical Engineer/AssociateWe are currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer/Associate for our Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Oakland, CA. In this role you will work as part of a team responsible for the inspection, analysis, and evaluation of geotechnical systems (e.g., foundations, retaining walls, excavation support systems, levees, dams, slopes, etc.) and frequently the preparation of repair/mitigation concepts.You will be responsible for:Conducting field inspections and subsurface explorationsPerforming geotechnical and civil engineering analysesAssisting with peer review of the design and construction of geotechnical systemsPreparing conceptual designs for the repair/restoration of damaged geotechnical systemsYou will have the following skills and qualifications:Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university or M.S.
in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university plus 5 years' experienceDegrees, experience or related coursework in Geology/Geological Engineering, Groundwater/Surface Water Hydrology or Structural Engineering a strong plusStrong analytical and critical thinking skills and potential to develop successful client relationsP.E. License or the willingness/ability to obtain a P.E. LicenseAttention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy, desire to work in a fast paced environment, and effective leadership skillsAbility to work independently or support multiple group projects and to interact with other engineers, administrative staff, and clientsAbility to gather information from a wide variety of sources (e.g., field investigations, document reviews, and interviews) and to synthesize and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and industryKnowledge of geotechnical modeling software, graphing software, GIS, and imaging software a strong plusApplicants are encouraged to submit a CV (Curriculum Vitae) with publications (feel free to include publications that are in review or pending) (not restricted to 1 page).
