Owning the geospatial data science function, the full-time remote Geospatial Data Scientist will define technical strategies for ingesting and structuring multi-hazard geospatial data, develop Python-based models, and translate scientific findings into actionable intelligence products for various stakeholders. Key responsibilities Design and deploy Python-based geospatial models to quantify environmental hazards for business decision-making Architect and manage geospatial data pipelines, ensuring data is prepared for ML and AI applications Translate complex scientific data into accessible products for insurance and government sectors, while mentoring a direct report Required qualifications Master's or PhD in Geospatial Science, Data Science, Atmospheric or Environmental Science, or a related field 5+ years of experience with geospatial data in a research or applied setting Proficiency in Python and experience with geospatial libraries such as GeoPandas and Rasterio Familiarity with geospatial data formats and large-scale datasets in cloud environments Experience in leading technical capabilities and mentoring team members
