Geomatics Data TechVHB's growing New York, NY office has an immediate need for a Geomatics Data Tech to join our Geomatics/Survey team. This position includes office work associated with land surveying and reality capture.ResponsibilitiesOperation, transport and setup of total stations, data collectors, GPS, and other land surveying equipmentCompletes field data review and post-processing activitiesQA/QC and processes information received from field and outside sourcesLand surveying including reality capture, boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic survey, route survey, construction stakeout and utility surveysDocumenting all phases of survey work through clear field notes and data collectionPerform survey office calculations to process field dataPerform public records research to obtain deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the projectApply the Principles of Boundary Surveying to review and interpret deeds and plans to determine the location of boundary linesPerform CAD 3D functions relating to the production and development of survey plansMay perform field crew coordination and set up for all types of field surveysDirect the activities of a survey crew when neededAssists with process of training geomatics professionals in calculations, data collection, upload processes, and ESRI software platformsEnsures that project tasks have been completed, processed, reviewed, and delivered per project requirements and parametersAssists project managers with planning field tasks, maintaining schedule, and reporting project progressSkills and AttributesSolid knowledge of geomatics mathematics, field procedure, and data collection principles, practices, methods, and proceduresKnowledge and experience to support technical, survey reality capture and mapping calculationsThorough working knowledge of industry standard geomatics equipment (eq. survey equipment, GPS equipment, reality capture equipment) with ability to adapt to new equipment and emerging technologiesProficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural and structural drawingsUnderstanding of boundary, topographic, construction, and utility surveysExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clientsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry and trigonometryDetail and task oriented, team oriented with ability to work independentlyQualifications4+ years of geomatics experience, whether through coursework or professional experience.High school diploma or GEDAssociates degree in Land Surveying or other related Land Development Science preferredProficient with industry standard software associated with survey engineering and reality capture.Familiarity with AutoCAD, ESRI, ArcGIS, and ArcPro software preferred.Experience in coordinating geomatics projects, including setting up crews and equipmentExperience in collecting, post-processing, and resolving data discrepancies as it relates to conventional, GPS, and reality capture methodologiesOur best estimate of the hourly pay for this position located in New York City is $ .
