Position Overview

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seeks a Geneticist qualified for appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor rank to join our growing division and program. The primary practice location is Morgantown, WV, with occasional travel to Summersville, WV, and South Charleston, WV. Clinical care will also be delivered via direct-to-home video visits, as well as through our groundbreaking clinic-to-clinic telemedicine program, offering service to Martinsburg, Princeton, South Charleston, Summersville, Vienna, and Wheeling, WV.

Duties

The successful candidate will join our growing group which includes two other geneticists, three advanced practice providers, and three genetic counselors. He or she will practice pediatric and adult genetics with the assistance of additional supportive personnel. Clinical responsibilities will include patients of all ages with duties that entail a mix of inpatient consults, telemedicine, and clinic. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students and residents.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and eligible to obtain a state medical license.
  • Completed an accredited genetics residency and board certified in medical genetics.
  • Additional interest or training in the care of metabolic patients is preferred.
  • For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track‑record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high‑impact journals are required.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
