Generator TechnicianMastec Communications Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Generator Technician to join our team servicing and repairing commercial generators on cell phone towers in your region. This is a fast-paced and challenging job that is best suited for self-directed, highly motivated individuals, willing to travel and looking to learn and grow in the Telecom industry.Responsibilities:Maintaining generators, diagnosing, repairing problems, or installing and replacing components/entire systemsPerforming additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipmentConducting performance checks and regular maintenance to ensure proper readinessReading and following blueprints or other design specifications to install or repairInstalling electrical wiring and controls, and testing for proper operationInstalling fuel and water supply lines, pumps, and other componentsConnecting the electrical wiringUsing care to conserve, recover, and recycle the oil or fuel filters and other fluidsAssisting in troubleshooting and repair with other Generator Service TechniciansBeing responsible for responding promptly/timely to Power/Generator alarms; can be on call 24/7 if necessary, and respond swiftly to assigned phone and emailOperating a computer or similar devices to access required systems and equipmentWorking independently with minimum or no supervisionPerforming work with the awareness of all potential hazards connected with the installation and maintenance of power supply equipment, switching gear, and other equipment, including but not limited to falls, electric shock, falling objects, and traffic; using safety equipment and utilizing safety practices; attending and participating in all designated safety and training meetingsComplying with all specifications, industry standards, safety rules and regulations, and company policies and proceduresQualifications:6 or more years of experience with generator maintenance is preferred, and a minimum of 3 year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processesGenerac, Cummins, Kohler, CAT, or MTU certificationsATS troubleshooting experienceMission-critical power experienceTelecom, data center, or industrial power generation backgroundsThorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair of Generators; knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components; familiarity with solar panels, moderate computer skills; basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulationsThis position requires lifting over 50 pounds, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and standing for long periods of timeMust have unimpaired hearing, be able to communicate orally and via telephoneWilling and able to drive long distances, workday, evening, or night hours (overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends, and holidays as required; must assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned and be gone from home for extended periods of time)Compensation: Experienced-level (6+ years of experience) compensation of $30+ per hour, depending on the experience + a company vehicle.Benefits:Financial Security 401(k) with company matchEmployee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)Life insuranceShort-term and Long-term disabilityHealth and Wellness Medical, dental, and vision insuranceDependent care and medical flexible spending accountsEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Work/Life Balance Paid time offPaid holidaysFamily and medical leavePaid sick timeTools and a laptop are providedHotel, per diem, and transportation are providedOpportunities to advance from within, and overtime availableMasTec, Inc. is an equal employment opportunity employer.
