Generator TechnicianThis position is based out of our Clinton, MD office. The Generator Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel-powered generators and associated systems. This hands-on role requires strong diagnostic abilities, and manufacturer-specific training.
This position will involve a mix of routine preventative maintenance, emergency response work, and field-based service calls. The ideal candidate thrives working independently, delivers a high standard of customer service, and ensures that all work meets industry safety and quality standards.Our Ideal Candidate:Holds EGSA Certification is preferred but not required.Has proven experience in diesel engine maintenance and generator servicing.Possesses manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler, Generac).Demonstrates strong diagnostic and mechanical skills.Works independently in varied field conditions.Maintains accurate records and follows safety protocols.Communicates clearly with internal teams and customers.Is adaptable and reliable under pressure.Day in the Life:Perform routine and preventive maintenance on diesel generators.Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including engines, transfer switches, and controls.Conduct load bank testing, fuel system checks, oil changes, and coolant flushes.Maintain accurate service records and comply with safety protocols and industry standards.Interpret and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.Provide clear updates and recommendations to internal teams and customers.Travel to job sites as needed and participate in on-call rotations.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED required, technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology or related field preferred.EGSA Certified Technician (strongly preferred).Proven experience in diesel engine maintenance and generator servicing.Manufacturer-specific training preferred.Valid driver's license and clean driving record.Must be eligible for and willing to join IBEW Local 26 as a condition of employment.Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions (heat, cold, confined spaces).May involve working in remote or outdoor locations.Travel:Travel is not required.Legal & Fraud Disclaimer:All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
