General Surgeon

We are seeking an experienced General Surgeon (BC/BE) to join CHRISTUS Spohn Health System at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital – Kleberg in Kingsville, Texas. This full-time position offers professional autonomy and a broad-scope clinical workload, supported by an established referral base and a tight-knit community. Surgeons enjoy a balanced weekly schedule with access to advanced facilities and opportunities to engage with local academic programs.

Practice Info

• CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital – Kleberg is a 96-bed, Level IV Trauma facility serving the Kingsville community.
• Surgical facilities feature 3 Operating Rooms (non-hybrid) and a dedicated clinic building located on the hospital campus.
• Operates as a stabilize and transfer center with acute care cases managed by on-site Hospitalists and support from Tele-Pulmonology and Tele-Critical Care.
• Home to the area's only inpatient dialysis program.

Responsibilities

• Manage a broad-scope clinical workload, including gallbladders, hernias, EGDs, colonoscopies, and PEGS.
• Provide general consults.
• Work with students and residents, contributing to the academic growth of equivariant programs.

Compensation

• Additional pay for potential 1:2 call rotation

Shift & Schedule

• Full time
• Typically 3 days of clinic and 2 days of blocked OR time weekly
• Collaborative call rotation expected 1:3, with potential for 1:2

Requirements

• MD or DO with ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency (Required)
• American Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery (Required)
• At least 5 years of experience (Required)
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Texas (Required)
• Residency within a 20–30 minute radius to support the hospital’s Level IV Trauma needs (Required)
