My client, a well-established civil construction contractor operating throughout New York, is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead field operations across multiple heavy civil and site development projects.
About the Role
They are looking for a hands‑on, highly organized leader who can manage field crews, coordinate project activities, and ensure safe, high‑quality execution. This role is critical in driving schedule, productivity, and overall project success.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily field operations on civil construction projects
- Lead and mentor foremen, superintendents, and field crews
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and inspectors
- Maintain project schedules, manpower plans, and equipment needs
- Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with local and state regulations
- Support planning, sequencing, and problem‑solving during construction
- Monitor quality control and ensure work meets project specifications
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to keep projects running smoothly
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in heavy civil, sitework, roadwork, utilities, or related construction
- Proven experience in a Superintendent or General Superintendent role
- Strong understanding of NY construction requirements, permitting, and safety standards
- Ability to manage multiple crews and high‑volume workloads
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Based in New York, with travel to various project sites across the region.
