The General Superintendent (Self Perform) is responsible for the overall field execution, production performance, and manpower coordination of all self-perform scopes. This role ensures work is planned, staffed, and executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules and production goals.
The General Superintendent serves as the leader of field operations, driving accountability, consistency, and quality across all crews while working in close partnership with the Senior Project Manager to achieve project success.
Core Responsibilities
Field Execution & Production Management
- Lead all field operations ensuring alignment with schedule, budget, and production goals
- Manage daily and weekly work planning through Superintendents and Foremen
- Drive production tracking against estimated production rates
- Identify and remove field constraints impacting workflow
- Coordinate execution across trades and project phases
Manpower Planning & Resource Allocation
- Own manpower planning across all active projects
- Align staffing with production goals and schedules
- Balance workforce across projects for efficiency
- Support hiring, onboarding, and workforce development
- Ensure crews are equipped and ready for execution
Field Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor Superintendents and Foremen
- Set expectations for planning and accountability
- Build a culture of teamwork and performance
- Develop high-potential field leaders
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards
- Maintain quality and workmanship standards
- Ensure jobsite readiness for inspections and turnover
Coordination with Project Management
- Align field execution with project financials and schedules
- Provide real-time updates on risks and production
- Support planning and lookahead processes
- Collaborate on manpower and productivity challenges
