The Opportunity

A leading and fast-growing power infrastructure contractor is seeking a General Superintendent – Substation Construction to oversee field execution across a portfolio of high-voltage substation projects in the Midwest.

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving field performance, safety, and project delivery , ideal for someone who thrives in complex builds and wants to play a key role in delivering critical grid infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day field operations across multiple substation construction projects
  • Oversee execution from site mobilization through commissioning and energization
  • Drive a strong safety-first culture across all crews and site teams
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Supervise and mentor foremen, crew leads, and field personnel
  • Support planning activities including lookaheads, resource allocation, and scheduling
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure alignment with site standards and expectations
  • Maintain strong communication with internal teams and client representatives on-site

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 8–15+ years of experience in substation, T&D, or heavy civil construction
  • Strong background in field supervision (Foreman, Superintendent, or General Superintendent level)
  • Proven ability to lead multiple crews and coordinate complex site activities
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and safety practices
  • Experience working with utilities or EPC contractors
  • Willingness to travel across the Midwest as required
