Job Overview

General Manager Lead with purpose. As a General Manager at Panera, you will lead a high‑performing team and oversee the success of a beloved neighborhood bakery‑café, ensuring guests experience the Panera Warmth and every shift is a celebration.

Key Responsibilities

• Own all aspects of leading the bakery‑café team, including planning and managing staffing needs, scheduling, people development, performance management, training, and succession planning.
• Hire, onboard, and train new team members while motivating, energizing, engaging, inspiring, and celebrating the entire team.
• Manage team performance to meet operational and quality standards and deliver extraordinary guest service.
• Develop subject‑matter experts by training managers on people processes and Panera’s Guiding Values & Behaviors.
• Follow operational procedures to ensure successful execution of company strategies and initiatives.
• Ensure guests are delighted by the quality of food, service, and staff.
• Build engaging relationships for long‑term, loyal guests.
• Ensure team members follow company policies, procedures, and all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintain a healthy and safe workplace, meeting Panera’s health, food safety, and cultural standards.
• Manage overall costs and inventory of the bakery‑café.
• Help build a culture of warmth, belonging, growth, and trust.

Qualifications

• Minimum age: 18 years.
• 3+ years of restaurant General Manager experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification (or ability to achieve).
• Proven ability to drive positive results through strong business acumen.
• Experience running great shifts while directing, motivating, coaching, and developing others in a fast‑paced environment.
• Flexible work schedule including nights and weekends.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 pounds and stand/walk for up to 6 hours.
• Excellent communication skills in a loud environment.
• Background check required.

Disabled/Veterans. Pay: $65,000 - $72,000 (actual pay is determined by experience, knowledge, skills, and location). Individual compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
