Manufacturing Operations DirectorDirects manufacturing operations for a Forging Operation. Build and develop operations organization, processes, and procedures to support strategic direction. Establish operations initiatives for improvement in safety, delivery, quality, cost, and employee relations.Essential FunctionsEstablishes operations standards for safety, on-time delivery, quality, cost control, and waste reduction.Establishes manufacturing policies in Lean Manufacturing techniques, material usage, shipping and receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations and performance measures.Directs implementation and execution of manufacturing policies and continuous improvement practices throughout organization.Oversees the implementation of manufacturing schedules, client and facilities requirements, quality control, production, production control standards, and safety programs.Recommends and implements strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategy to meet the strategic objectives of the plant.Insures prompt and economical receipt of needed materials and supplies to ensure on time delivery of finished products to customers.Builds, develops, and manages manufacturing leadership team capable of carrying out needed manufacturing strategies and improving employee relations.Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.Directs and oversees the operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements.Principal Accountabilities Include:Short Term Objectives:Ensure daily tracking and adherence to budget, adjusting short term plans to accommodate revenue dynamics,Ensure specific profit improvement initiatives, both ongoing and new, including raw, WIP and finished inventory reduction, changeover time reduction and scrap/rework elimination,Ensure lean manufacturing initiatives, continuous improvement, and corrective action activities,Ensure plant wide commitment to successful launches of new product lines,Lead implementation of schedule-based production manning model to proactively predict, address and support direct labor requirements,Drive consistent use of structured problem-solving methods and verification of PCADrive robust data gathering, analysis and distribution tools to support all result measurables,Drive visual factory and "6S" tools and expectations, in keeping with road map timing,Develop and consistently apply Company rules and policies.Drive successful functioning of VPP Safety program,Set and facilitate plant wide communication expectations, including daily, weekly, and monthly requirements.Long Term Objectives:Lead plant-wide development to better understand and effectively employ industry-standard concepts,Maintain a plant-wide customer-focused, continuous improvement paradigm.Champion long-term, systematic continuous improvement of process capabilities and costs, while supporting zero defects, on-time delivery, and cost competitiveness,Champion employee development through proactive training and job rotationSocial Style:Passionate towards excellence and growth of the business and individuals within the manufacturing industryStrong self-awareness, including accurate self-assessment and high self-confidence.Self-regulating with integrity, composure, flexibility, and innovationStrong empathy with emphasis on understanding others, developing others and a service orientation towards meeting, or exceeding the needs of the customers, shareholders, and employees.Leading by effectively communicating and influencing and working with a collaborative approachPerforms other related duties as assigned.Additional ResponsibilitiesInvolvement in community programs to project positive public relations image.Education and ExperienceBachelor's Degree in engineering or technical field preferred7-12 years in successive leadership roles in a metal working manufacturing environment(s), Union environments preferred.5 -
