Position Overview

A distinguished luxury senior living community in Pennsylvania is seeking an accomplished General Manager to provide executive leadership across a complex, multi-level continuum of care.

Key Responsibilities

The General Manager will oversee four primary areas of the community:

  • Independent Living
  • Assisted Living
  • REM / Memory Care
  • Skilled Nursing Facility

This individual will be responsible for the overall resident experience, financial performance, operational execution, team member engagement, regulatory compliance, and continued growth of the community.

The successful candidate will combine strong senior living leadership with refined hospitality instincts and a deep understanding of financial performance. This leader must be highly comfortable reviewing, interpreting, and acting upon detailed financial statements while driving top-line revenue, maintaining disciplined expense controls, and producing positive, sustainable financial results.

Executive and Operational Leadership

  • Provide executive oversight of Independent Living, Assisted Living, REM / Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing operations.
  • Establish clear operating standards and ensure consistent execution across all departments and levels of care.
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the community.
  • Build trusted relationships with residents, families, team members, ownership, and community partners.
  • Lead the community with warmth, accountability, urgency, and sound judgment.
  • Ensure all residences, public spaces, amenities, clinical areas, and grounds are maintained to luxury standards.

Financial Performance and Revenue Growth

  • Assume full responsibility for the community’s financial performance and overall profit-and-loss statement.
  • Drive top-line revenue through occupancy growth, resident retention, appropriate service utilization, rate strategy, and disciplined operational execution.
  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets, capital budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • Review and thoroughly interpret financial statements, including revenue, labor, departmental expenses, margins, variances, and profitability.
  • Translate financial data into clear operating priorities and corrective action plans.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the financial statements before they materially affect performance.
  • Partner with sales, clinical, finance, and departmental leaders to build a positive and growing financial position.
  • Improve operational efficiency without compromising resident safety, care quality, service standards, or team member engagement.
  • Hold department leaders accountable for budget performance, productivity, and financial results.

Labor and Scheduling

  • Establish and enforce effective labor-management and scheduling standards across all departments.
  • Align staffing levels with occupancy, resident acuity, service demands, budget expectations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor overtime, agency usage, productivity, vacancies, turnover, and labor-cost trends.
  • Ensure departmental schedules are prepared proactively and reflect appropriate staffing coverage.
  • Partner with leaders to address staffing gaps while maintaining service quality and financial discipline.
  • Create clear accountability around labor forecasting, scheduling practices, and workforce productivity.
  • Evaluate organizational structure and deployment of resources to ensure the community operates efficiently.

Team Member Engagement and Leadership Development

  • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a highly engaged leadership team.
  • Create a culture of collaboration, accountability, respect, recognition, and genuine hospitality.
  • Establish clear performance expectations for all department leaders.
  • Conduct regular leadership meetings and maintain strong communication across the community.
  • Strengthen team member engagement through visibility, listening, recognition, development, and consistent follow-through.
  • Monitor retention, turnover, attendance, engagement, and employee-relations trends.
  • Develop succession plans and support the professional growth of community leaders.
  • Recognize team members who demonstrate exceptional service and commitment to residents.

Resident Experience

  • Create a personalized, hospitality-driven culture centered on resident dignity, choice, wellness, safety, and quality of life.
  • Ensure residents feel known, valued, respected, and genuinely at home.
  • Establish service standards comparable to those found within luxury hotels, resorts, and high-end residential environments.
  • Maintain regular interaction with residents and families.
  • Ensure concerns are addressed promptly, thoughtfully, and professionally.
  • Provide executive oversight of dining, programming, wellness, transportation, housekeeping, maintenance, clinical services, and other resident-facing operations.
  • Continuously evaluate the resident journey and identify opportunities to improve satisfaction, engagement, and retention.

Sales and Market Positioning

  • Partner with sales and marketing leadership to achieve occupancy, revenue, and move-in goals.
  • Participate in prospective resident meetings, community tours, events, and key closing conversations.
  • Support pricing, rate strategy, occupancy planning, and competitive positioning.
  • Build strong relationships with healthcare providers, referral partners, local organizations, and community leaders.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the community and strengthen its reputation within the market.
  • Monitor local competition, demographic trends, consumer expectations, and market opportunities.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain readiness for inspections, audits, licensing reviews, and regulatory surveys.
  • Partner closely with clinical leadership to support resident safety, quality outcomes, appropriate care delivery, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee emergency preparedness, infection prevention, risk management, workplace safety, and incident response.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, documentation, employee credentials, and required training remain current and consistently followed.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, hospitality management, business administration, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience within senior living, healthcare, luxury hospitality, or a closely related service environment.
  • Previous experience as an Executive Director, General Manager, Community President, Administrator, or senior operational leader strongly preferred.
  • Experience overseeing multiple levels of care, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success driving top-line revenue, occupancy, profitability, and positive P&L performance.
  • Advanced ability to read, interpret, and act upon financial statements and operating reports.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, labor management, scheduling, expense control, occupancy development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to improve team member engagement, retention, productivity, and leadership accountability.
  • Experience leading complex, multi-department operations within a high-touch environment.
  • Must meet all Pennsylvania licensing, certification, background-check, and training requirements applicable to the community and its levels of care.
  • Availability to respond to community needs outside traditional business hours.
