Job Summary
This position contributes to Sun Tan City’s success by leading a team to create and maintain the Sun Tan City Experience for our clients. The Salon Director exercises discretion in managing the overall operation of the salon, supervising and directing the workforce, making staffing decisions, ensuring client satisfaction and quality of client experience, monitoring and motivating staff to achieve performance goals, handling minor maintenance issues, ensuring salon cleanliness, and managing safety and security within the salon.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Develop and coach employees to provide amazing client experiences.
- Follow up swiftly on client concerns and issues.
- Consistently set a positive example and demonstrate a calm demeanor during periods of high volume.
- Display a client‑first attitude by holding team members accountable for quality client service.
- Drive company metrics by developing action plans and directly motivate/instruct the salon team by implementing company programs.
- Manage with integrity and honesty, promoting the culture, values, and mission of Sun Tan City.
- Plan, identify, communicate, and delegate responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth flow of operations.
- Directly responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance, sanitation, and organization of the salon.
- Manage salon staffing levels to ensure employee development and maintain operational requirements.
- Adhere to applicable wage and hour laws for non‑exempt team members and minors.
- Use all operational tools to plan for and achieve operational excellence in the salon (labor guidelines, reports, cash & inventory management).
- Utilize financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in salon performance.
- Conduct performance assessments, providing feedback and setting challenging goals to improve sales performance.
- Manage ongoing sales.
- Work a five‑day workweek of 40 hours per week (minimum). Work a varying number of mid and/or closing shifts each week as determined by supervisors based on business trends and staffing needs.
Experience
- College education preferred, but not required.
- Management and/or sales experience required.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage effectively in a fast‑paced environment, handling multiple situations simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of client service techniques and operational practices.
- Strong problem‑solving and organizational/ planning skills.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor while applying supervisory practices and procedures.

- Ability to prioritize and delegate.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend at the waist to clean tanning equipment.
- Ability to lift or assist in lifting items and heavy boxes.
- Ability to bend down to pick up trash, towels, etc. from the floors.
- Ability to perform salon cleaning functions including dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, etc.
