Onsite Full Time Management & Operations

Hopscotch is an art-driven experience brand built around curiosity, connection, creativity, and play. Our spaces bring together artists, technology, hospitality, food, beverage, and retail to invite people to explore and engage in unexpected ways. We currently have locations in San Antonio, TX and Portland, OR, with Los Angeles, CA opening soon, and we're building toward a million guests a year across all of our locations. We believe the best experiences spark curiosity, create meaningful connection, and remind people that play has no age limit.

Hopscotch is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability, or any other protected class.

Job Summary

The General Manager is the on-site leader of Hopscotch, the person who brings our people, operations, hospitality, and culture together every day. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you’ll own the day-to-day rhythm of the venue, from hiring, scheduling, training, and staff development to operational standards and the overall guest experience. This role is equal parts people leader, operator, problem solver, and culture builder. You’ll set the tone for the venue, creating an environment where expectations are clear, accountability is consistent, ideas are welcomed, and people are excited to show up and do great work.

The right person genuinely loves leading people, thrives in a high-volume, ever-evolving environment, and knows how to move quickly without losing sight of the details. You’re comfortable jumping in wherever needed, developing future leaders, and finding smarter ways to make the operation better. Hopscotch comes alive when our guests are here, so regular weekend availability and flexibility are essential. Above all, we’re looking for someone who is kind, curious, committed, connected, intentional, professional and excited to help build an experience that’s creative, collaborative, and unmistakably Hopscotch.

Job Responsibilities

At Hopscotch, operations are about more than keeping things running, they’re about creating the conditions for great experiences to happen. You’ll work alongside the Hospitality Manager and Facilities Coordinator to lead a high-performing team, protect the details that make our spaces special, and deliver an exceptional staff and guest experience from open to close.

  • Lead from the floor. Guide, develop, and inspire departmental leaders and hourly team members while creating a culture of ownership, accountability, curiosity, and genuine hospitality.
  • Own the daily experience. Oversee operations across every department, ensuring our space feels safe, welcoming, polished, and unmistakably Hopscotch for both guests and staff.
  • Bring our standards to life. Champion Hopscotch SOPs and operational standards while knowing when to evolve, improve, and challenge the way we do things as the company grows.
  • Build a great team. Own the execution of hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management, offboarding, and ongoing staff development.
  • Protect the culture. Partner with People & Culture to maintain compliant employment practices while creating learning materials, communication, and development opportunities that keep our values alive; not just on a wall.
  • Set the standard for hospitality. In partnership with the Director of Operations, ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements while continually raising the bar for service, quality, and guest experience.
  • Know your business. Maintain a strong understanding of inventory, ordering, labor, departmental spending, sales, and operating costs; and use that information to make smart decisions.
  • Own inventory and ordering. Oversee weekly inventory and purchasing for operational, bar, and kitchen supplies, balancing preparedness with responsible spending.
  • Think like an operator. Analyze departmental budgets, labor, purchasing, and operating trends to uncover opportunities to work smarter and improve profitability without sacrificing the experience.
  • Keep a pulse on performance. Execute monthly sales and cost reporting and understand the story behind the numbers, not just the numbers themselves.
  • Maintain financial accountability. Ensure payments, receipts, cash handling, and reconciliations are accurate and aligned with company accounting policies.
  • Make Hopscotch better. Work closely with the corporate team to identify friction points, solve problems, test ideas, and build systems that improve operations and the guest experience across locations.
  • Take care of the details. Oversee payroll accuracy and ensure employee reviews, performance conversations, and other people processes happen consistently and on time.
  • Think beyond your four walls. Be open to traveling to other Hopscotch locations to support openings, special events, projects, and operational needs as we continue to grow.

Who You Are

  • You thrive in the action. High-volume, fast-paced environments energize you, and you know how to stay calm, organized, and solutions-focused when there are a hundred things happening at once.
  • You’ve led before. You bring 2+ years of management experience, ideally in an Operations Manager, General Manager, Director, or similar leadership role.
  • You know how to lead a team. Experience managing larger teams, multiple departments, or departmental leaders is strongly preferred. You know how to set expectations, build trust, give feedback, and hold people accountable.
  • You’re there when the business needs you. This is an experience-driven, hospitality-minded operation, so flexibility is essential. You’re available to work a mix of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • You’re organized without being rigid. You’re comfortable balancing schedules, projects, inventory, ordering, deadlines, and competing priorities, and can pivot quickly when the day takes an unexpected turn.
  • You’re digitally fluent. You’re confident navigating Google Workspace and other operational tools and can quickly learn new platforms, systems, and technology.
  • You’re curious by nature. You ask questions, look for better ways to do things, and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and figure something out.
