Role Description


The General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Alexandria, VA, responsible for overseeing daily studio operations and ensuring an exceptional client experience. This role manages staff scheduling, training, and performance, while fostering a positive, inclusive studio culture aligned with Pure Barre’s brand standards. The General Manager drives membership growth and retention through sales outreach, local marketing initiatives, and strong relationship-building with clients and the community. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring studio metrics, handling client inquiries, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, coordinating class schedules, and implementing operational processes to meet revenue and service goals. The role collaborates closely with corporate and franchise leadership, providing regular reporting and feedback to support studio performance and continuous improvement.


Qualifications



  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, including staff development, performance feedback, and conflict resolution.

  • Experience in sales and customer service, with the ability to drive memberships, build client relationships, and deliver a high-quality member experience.

  • Strong operations and organizational skills, including scheduling, process implementation, and attention to studio cleanliness and safety.

  • Knowledge of fitness or wellness industries, with enthusiasm for boutique fitness and willingness to learn Pure Barre methodology.

  • Proficiency with basic business software and studio management systems, including CRM tools and point-of-sale platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with in-person interactions, phone calls, and digital communication.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.

  • Prior experience in multi-unit retail, hospitality, or fitness management is preferred; bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field is a plus.
