Jackson and Coker is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible General GIs for high-volume, high-paying 24-hour call coverage locums opportunities in Illinois. The role involves both holiday coverage in late 2026 and ongoing full-time locums support starting in January 2027. This position offers a chance to provide essential GI services within a health system, supported by a dedicated team and comprehensive logistics.

Practice Info

  • Credentialing required at three different facilities within the same health system
  • Facilities are 110 and 150+ bed facilities
  • Epic EMR system is used
  • Larger facility has a Level 2 trauma designation
  • APP support available at each hospital during daytime weekday hours
  • Full anesthesia support + pre/post-op patient coordination support for procedures

Responsibilities

  • Complete pathology follow up / check EMR when off call to ensure time-sensitive messages are delivered
  • Complete a half day of procedures (8-10 procedures between 7 AM-12 PM, Monday - Friday) followed by patient rounding
  • Cover 2 hospitals in tandem while on call
  • Provide 1 week (M-F) of high volume procedural support with no night or weekend call coverage
  • Anticipate 18-22 procedures scheduled each day (with approximately 25% cancellations)
  • Work in a flip room setting for procedures

Shift & Schedule

  • 24-hour call coverage
  • December 21 (7 AM) - January 4 (7 AM) for 2026
  • Seeking up to 3 GIs to cover 7-10 consecutive days per month each starting in January 2027
  • Work an average of 10-12 hours per day, each day
  • IR available during weekdays until 5 PM, no IR available on the weekends

Requirements

  • Board Certified or truly Board Eligible GIs
  • Minimum of 100 case logs from the last 12 months that can be provided at time of presentation
  • Must have an active Illinois license, CSR & DEA or LOQ with the IMLC (and willingness to get an IL CSR & DEA)
  • Must come in a weekday early to complete a full training on EMR & GI system
  • ERCP/EUS not required (ERCP can be used if you do them)
