General Counsel Opportunity At UpsideUpside is seeking an experienced executive attorney to serve as General Counsel. The General Counsel will report to the CFO and mentor/coach the Deputy General Counsels to identify, develop, communicate, and monitor policies that will ensure compliance with law by the entire company. This is a great opportunity to join a small yet growing legal team and work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.What You'll Do:Provide legal guidance across many subject areas, including contract law, privacy, data protection, consumer protection laws, employment, and commercial litigationOversee contract review and execution process for the entire companyAs needed, draft and negotiate the largest commercial contracts with merchant partners, data providers, and vendorsLeverage AI to drive productivity and efficiency on legal matters across the companyWork with and manage our outside counsel firmsCompetencies You'll Need:15+ years of experience as a practicing attorney (including in-house or at a law firm)Extensive experience and expertise with drafting and negotiating large commercial contractsExperience with data privacy law is preferableAbility to handle major problems in practice areas with little or no supervisionSound business judgment and industry knowledgeExperience managing client relationships with business leadersExperience in the technology industry is highly preferredAbility to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product in a fast-paced environmentStrong interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively and work collaboratively with individuals at all levelsHigh attention to detail with strong organizational skills and ability to work independentlyJ.D.

In-office attendance is required on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and may increase based on project-based needs and changes to Upside's in-office policy over time.Compensation:The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $285,000 - $310,000 + equity + benefits.
The final starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
